After you have had you new Tattoo, it is crucial you follow the guidelines for aftercare that your artist has provided you with.
*Remember your tattoo is essentially an open wound and has to heal as such
~Remove the protective cover after 1-2 hours ( if it is to heal effectively, it will need air to breathe)
~Once the cover has been removed, wash gently with warm soapy water (preferably antibacterial) with your fingertips only. Do not use a sponge or washcloth. Pat dry with a clean soft cloth.
~Apply a small amount of healing cream ( we recommend 'Bepanthen' which is an ointment used for nappy rash and can be purchased from the baby section of most supermarkets or pharmacies) This is to keep the skin moist and keep scabbing to a minimum.Be sure to use it sparingly for maximum effectiveness. Your body heat will liquify the ointment and make it runny, if this happens you have applied too much.Dab off excess gently with a clean cloth.
~Wash your tattoo daily and repeat these steps in 10-14 days healing time.
Remember every person and tattoo is individual,so your artist will advise you accordingly.
YOU MUST AVOID ( in the healing period):
*Sunbeds,sunbathing
*Swimming pools ( the chlorine will destroy your new tattoo)
*Do not submerge your tattoo in water, showering with extra care is fine.
